The Last Journey of Strays
The sharing session 'The Last Journey of Strays' was held by HKBU TriAngle and Protect the Strays on 22nd March 2023 with simultaneous English interpreting provided by Inter-Link.
Protect the Strays is a non-profit organization that is dedicated to providing after-death services for deceased stray animals. The organisation was founded on 4th January 2021 and now has more than 130 volunteers.
The organisation’s daily work, demonstrations of handling dead strays, and suggestions for animal emergencies were included in this sharing session.
An activity of folding paper hearts followed after the sharing session.
Feedback from an exchange student who needed interpreting services:
"I am an exchange student from Korea. Honestly, this is my first time having an interpreter sitting right next to me and providing simultaneous English interpreting throughout the whole time. Since the whole sharing session was in Cantonese, the interpretation really helped me a lot! The interpreter also helped me a lot during the folding hearts activity! I had a great time!"
Reflections by student interpreter:
"I was quite nervous before the sharing session, probably because I am also an animal lover. I really wanted to interpret the whole event accurately and fluently, and help spread the message by the organisation: 'Even no love was shown when animals roamed, but in passing, hearts are touched and honed.' I cherished this opportunity and am grateful for this chance!"
